    2023 Candidates for Secretary

    Two of our Members have expressed interest in accepting the leadership position of Secretary for the North Florida PGA. The role of the Secretary entails taking responsibility for all “Member needs and Communication.” Their commitment is to take great notes at Section Meetings, prepare those notes for approval at the next Section Meeting, and to function as a support person to the Section President and Vice President when needed.

    Elections for Secretary will be at the NFPGA Annual Meeting on Monday, June 26th at Evermore Orlando Resort and Grand Cypress Golf Club.     Mark Verkey, PGA

    Oxford, FL

    PGA Professional at Palmer Legends Country Club

    Years of PGA Membership: 24

    Biography

    Mark Verkey, PGA has been a North Florida PGA Member since 1998. In his time of Membership, he has served on a handful of Chapter Awards Selection Committees and held the positions of ECC’s President, VP, and Secretary. Verkey brings the skillsets of his experience in resort, public, and private facilities. Through his understanding of these facilities, he knows of the needs of the PGA members and the challenges they may experience on a daily basis. 

    “Why are you interested in serving as Secretary?”

    “I enjoy the camaraderie and networking the volunteer leadership position offers. In return, I hope my experience makes a difference in our Section for all of its members and associates.”

    Melissa (Missy) Williams, PGA

    Myakka City, Florida

    Biography

    Melissa (Missy) Williams, PGA has been a North Florida PGA Member since 2006. In her time of Membership, she has served on NFPGA’s Executive Board and the Inclusion and Diversity Council. Williams currently holds the position of Southwest Chapter Vice President. She brings the skillset of public speaking, social media, teaching, tournament golf, and an ability to serve the NFPGA in a higher role.

    “Why are you interested in serving as Secretary?”

    “I want to be an integral part of our leadership by taking on the role of Secretary. We come from diverse backgrounds, but we all have one common goal, which is to support our community.”
